Bone Grafting

In some cases, bone grafts or bone regeneration are needed to prepare the jawbone to be able to support the implant. This may be done either at the same time of implant placement, or in cases of severe deficiency a separate procedure for bone grafting may be required prior to future implant placement. The need for bone grafting may increase overall treatment time prior to the final teeth being placed on the implants.

Guided bone regeneration is an advanced technique designed to promote the growth of bone cells in areas affected by bone loss. A barrier membrane is placed over the area of bone loss, preventing other types of cells from accessing it and allowing bone cells to grow and fill the space.
